Red Eyed Vireo on the nest!
A Red Eyed Vireo was discovered nesting on Two Dog Mountain in Fayston. This nest was discovered on a small maple tree very close to a second story porch. We will keep an eye on the nest, with hopes of capturing some photos of hatchlings before they fledge. Craig Goss got this great photo on 7/3/09.
Phen Basin, July 25
[ July 25, 2009; 7:30 am to 10:00 am. ] Meet at Shaws to carpool to Phen Basin. This can be muddy, wear sturdy footwear, long sleeves and long pants because of bugs. A nice wooded hike to beaver ponds.
Franklin County Trip, July 9
[ July 9, 2009; 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. ] Meet at Shaws to carpool to Franklin County. We’ll look for grassland birds at the Franklin County Airport, visit Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge. All day trip.
